The
Smart Embedded Systems Group was founded in September 2005 and gives courses in computer engineering/technical informatics and related areas.
Teaching is done with an emphasis on real practical applications in an interdisciplinary context and on team work. Hence several
courses address projects which are conducted by a group of students.
The mission of our
research work is to increase the flexibility and robustness of embedded systems. We deal therefor with
computational intelligence methods especially for smart embedded systems as well as
organic computing. Our specific focus is on methods for controlled self-organization. This work is complemented by the so-called trust management of embedded systems. It explicitly models and evaluates the uncertainties of the embedded system and its operation in order to increase the robustness and trustworthiness of the system operation, even in presence of disturbances and anomalies.
